Community Consultant

A channel partnership, not a job req — bring your own clients (or take ones we refer to you), keep the relationship, and charge your own rate or retainer.

Back to Careers

This one isn't a traditional hire — it's a channel marketing partnership for experienced community consultants. You keep your own practice: your rate, your retainer structure, your relationship with the client. What Pollen8 brings is the channel — clients who need community strategy but don't yet have someone to execute it — and we take a referral fee for making the introduction, not a cut of your day rate.

On top of the referral channel, we also route on-demand consulting calls to our network when clients request call packages instead of a full engagement. Those are structured as an 80/20 revenue split in your favor — you do the call, you keep 80%, we keep 20% for sourcing the client and handling the booking and billing.

How this works

  • Referral model: we introduce a client, you contract with them directly at your own rate or retainer
  • Referral fee paid to Pollen8 on the engagement, not a percentage of your ongoing rate
  • Call packages: for clients who just want on-demand consulting calls, we book them through you and split the revenue 80/20 in your favor
  • You stay independent — this isn't exclusive, and it doesn't affect your other clients or practice

What you'll do

  • Take client introductions from Pollen8 and run the engagement your way
  • Deliver community strategy, audits, or ongoing advisory depending on what the client needs
  • Take on-demand consulting calls for clients who want a package instead of a full retainer
  • Represent Pollen8's community-first point of view without being boxed into our playbook

What we're looking for

  • A track record of running your own community consulting practice or engagements
  • Comfortable owning client relationships and billing directly, independent of Pollen8
  • Strong point of view on community strategy — we're referring you because of your expertise, not despite it

Nice to have

  • Existing case studies or referenceable client work you can point to
  • Experience with retainer-based consulting, not just project work
